Music

Improving access to music making – experience the joy and entrepreneurial opportunities.

Elias and Odilia loved music as evident in the fact that all their children and grandchildren took music lessons. They both loved singing and we have lasting memories of them singing throughout the day; oftentimes, Elias would follow up statements he’d made with songs to reinforce the message. They were members of choirs such as the Capella Música and the Njimafor Parish Choir, and also took on patronages to local choirs, particularly youth choirs.

We aim to continue this legacy through the:

Provision of musical instruments to local choirs.

    Sponsoring of music teaching.

Sponsoring of music competitions and awards.

Creation of structures that would promote musical entrepreneurship.

Our motivation

We see music as a channel for engaging the youth through the acquisition of new skills outside formal educational settings. Music is a fun way of engaging youth who could in turn commercialise their skills by offering out their singing talents for entertainment, thereby developing associated marketing and management skills.

Who can benefit?

We are hoping to work with local youth groups, initially with the Queen of Peace Catholic Parish, Njimafor, to provide them with musical instruments and sponsor the teaching of music.

Impacts

    Youth engagement

    Love and pride in music

    Encourage musical enterprise.
